Speedway Miracle Tournament Helps Change Kids’ Health “fore” Kids at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital

On the course for more than 30 years, Speedway, a part of 7-Eleven family of brands, has partnered with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals to raise more than $150 million for local children’s hospitals like Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. Speedway makes giving easy and possible at the local level-gathering donations from in-store campaigns, vendor promotions and the annual Speedway Miracle Tournament that took place June 13 and 14.

Nearly 650 golfers came together to raise funds and allow children the opportunity to get the specialized care they need. Hospitals transform how they meet urgent needs, while also maintaining an exceptional standard of care for children like Kelsie.

Nine-year-old Kelsie knows a thing or two about powering through hard times. She was born with cystic fibrosis, a progressive, genetic disease that causes persistent lung infections, serious digestive problems, and impacts the ability to breathe.

Because of her CF, Kelsie’s life is different from other kids. She takes more than 30 pills a day. She undergoes hours of daily, rigorous treatments to keep her lungs clear, and she is hospitalized frequently. Since she was a baby, Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital has been like family, guiding Kelsie and her parents through the roughest times. “The care, the treatment, and the love this hospital provides is how these kids survive these diseases,” Kelsie’s mom, Nicki, says.

Kelsie has an amazing attitude. She remains goal-oriented, active in school, engaged with friends and participates in all the fun activities she can work into her day. The best news for Kelsie is that she is now taking a promising new medication that could extend her life. “That makes me very happy,” Kelsie says.

Together, with Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Speedway and the 7-Eleven family of brands, we know when we change kids’ health, we unlock a world of possibility for their futures.

Thank you, Speedway and 7-Eleven for ensuring kids have the care they need to be healthy.
