March is Child Life Month

March is Child Life month, and we at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital have been celebrating this profession and the work they do for our patients all month long! Child Life Departments are unique to pediatric hospitals across the country, and Johns Hopkins All Children’s is lucky to have these amazing individuals provide excellent care to our patients. Hospitalization can be very traumatic for both the patients and their families. Child Life specialists work closely with children and families during their medical stay to serve as emotional support as they overcome life’s most challenging events.

In honor of this year’s Child Life Month, the Child Life Department at Johns Hopkins All Children’s hosted a Teddy Bear clinic for children from local area schools. More than 150 kindergartners attended to be doctors to their Teddy Bear patients for the day, learn about the hospital, and hear about healthy living and safety.
