Love’s Change Kids’ Health By Any Beans Necessary!

Marina, age 13
2021 JHACH, CMNH Champion.

Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores are raising money and their coffee mugs on National Coffee Day tomorrow, September 29. They want to ensure our children can lead healthy, fulfilling lives by fostering our drivers, parents and leaders of tomorrow at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, a member hospital of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. But they can’t do it alone.

Patients like Marina, Marina is 13 years old. She is an accomplished public speaker, children’s health care advocate and honor roll student. She is on a cheerleading team and currently is the Miss Seminole Spectacular America Jr. Teen title holder. She has also survived 25 surgeries—several of which nearly cost this tough fighter her life.

Marina was born with a Giant Omphalocele (pronounced uhm-fa-lo-seal), which means the abdominal wall doesn’t close and, for Marina, the bowel, liver, stomach, spleen and small intestines protruded out of the abdominal cavity covered by a thin membrane.

Marina’s first surgery at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital was when she was just an hour old, after she was born six weeks early not breathing. She spent her first 10 months in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) as surgeons began the long, careful process of putting her back together again, moving and placing her organs, and closing the opening that allowed them to dislocate in the first place.

Marina celebrates every little scar as a victory in her battle alongside her dedicated care team at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. It is this high level of teamwork and collaboration that makes miracles happen daily.

National Coffee Day is tomorrow, September 29. Any size of Love’s hot coffee/beverage you purchase on Love’s Connect app, $1 will be donated to change kids’ health and change the future at your local children’s hospitals because they understand kids can’t wait!

You can do more to help children’s hospitals that are protecting the health of future generations by donating at the Love’s register now through September 30. Our member hospitals are so grateful to customers and employees who have made donations so far during this year’s campaign.

Join Love’s and celebrate National Coffee Day by enjoying that extra cup— all proceeds help meet the urgent needs of kids in your local community.
